A Christmas Tale

Hail all ye friends of Norrath. Come lay thy weapons and armor down and rest thy body and let me spin you a tale of the a place of fantasy. A place full of War and Wizardy.
It is that time of year again where all inhabitants of Norrath begin to feel joyful and triumphant. It is every year at this time that Norrath's greatest guild gathers together to spin tales of the glorious battle theyhave endured during the year. All the members young and old gather in the main passage resting between the areas of Northern Ro and The Eastern Common lands. It is in this place that the members gather every year to greet one and other and to spread gifts to the ones they call friend. However on this eve of Christmas one is missing from the flock. One who is most dear and important to all the hearts of the members. The fair maiden Cherrie has not arrived. She is always first to appear at this event. For some reason no one has seen nor heard from her. An hour passes and many become worried. Her trusted followers strike up a sarch party consisting of the guilds finest. These brave members have made their pledge not to return to the festivities until they have found their leader. The best of the best consists of none other that Tezneek, Velsey, Laaer, Falgoryn, Rallitar, Maladrv, Tamog, and Kkan. These members of the guild represent the best of the best. It be not because of the power they possess but it is because of their loyalty to the guild and to their leader Cherrie. This group has vowed with their lives to insure the safety of all the members of the guild, including the leader.
As we step away from our brave friends we discover the whereabouts of our fearless leader. She is being held captive by the most feared Christmas monster of all. the dreaded Meldreth of the Minotaurs ( better known to the populous of Norrath as the Christmas Grinch). Some how Meldreth has captured our fair maiden and tends to ruin the guilds whole Christmas by preventing her to join them. The elite group of the guild will not allow it!
Through an undrground informant (that wishes to remain anonymous) the group was able to obtain a little information about their missing leader. It seem that the informant knows of the area in which he thinks that Cherrie was kidnapped from. With no further delay our group heads out to inspect this area. Surveying the site they find burn marks from unmistakable druid spells. The same type of spells Cherrie uses to defend herself. After a close look at the area Velsey notices a set of hoof prints close to one of the burns. He motions the others over to have a look and from what he can tell they come from a minotaur. Not just any minotaur but the ones that are found in the Steamfont Mountains which Velsey is very familier with. Without any delay the group finds a local wizard named Tazar to take them as close as he can to the mountains they seek. Upon arrival in the mountains of Steamfont our group prepares themselves for battle. Warriors sharpen their weapons, casters prepare their spells. These men have been train well in he arts of war. Battles are as familiar to them as their own reflection. They have trained their entire lives to ensure the protection of their friends.
After much searching our group finds the entrance to the cave of the minotaurs. Only the light from torches hanging from the walls allows sight in the underground passage. As they round the first bend all stop in amazement as they look at a whole herd of minotaurs standing ready to attack. They knew of our friends approach. Rallitar makes a mental note in his mind to kill the double crossing informant……slowly. Suddenly the group springs into action all at once as if they could all read each others thoughts and knew when to strike. The herd of thirty falls in minutes, it was only meant as a distraction. The casters had just began to sit to regenerate mana before the next fight when the sound of a horn comes from deep within the cavern/ Before our group has a chance to get to their feet they are overwhelmed by Meldreths elite guards. Blood flies and swords clash as our heroes fight for their lives. Each member has special abilities that makes them stand out from the normal person. It is these abilities, that when used in combination with others in the guild, that produce a most destructive force the likes of which have never been seen. Using their powers our group combines their strength to form the perfect killing machine. Individually they would have perished, but as a group they were able to rally each others powers and focus as one unit sharing a common goal to eliminate all who apposed them. Two by two he elite guards of Meldreth fell to the floor. Their might was no match for the sheer power that was emanating from our group. Once the last minotaur was slain our heroes sat and gain there breaths back.. They sat for only a few seconds when a yell came from one of the dark corridors. It was Cherries voice! Not a word was spoken as the group moved in fluid motion down the corridor. Some tired, others depleted of the magic's they use. They pay it little mind, all that matters is the safe return of the leader of their guild. As our heores round the last bend the wander into a room that opens up into the lair of Meldreth. As they stare in amazement at the size of the strucure in which he lives, Meldreth the Great steps forth from the shadows.
"So you have come for your friend have you" bellows Meldreth
No words were spoken, and none needed to be. All our heroes had to know was who had taken their leader and they would let loose with every ounce of fury they had. Magics flew and blades slashed; the fury this elie group felt only fed their hunger for Meldreths' death. But through all there fighting it did not seem to even tire Meldreth. What could they do to stop this horrible creature? The answer was soon found as the group remembered a special ability that only they as a group could harness. Quickly the group for a chain with each other. Hand to hand they began to chant ancient incantations. The words could only be spoken by these men and only if they were joined in the link. As they chanted the ground began to shake and rumble, clouds formed in the heavens sparking lighting. Meldreth was surrounded by a mystical glowing light, stunning him. As the group recited the last sentence Meldreth begins shake and shiver. He roars in pain as smoke begins to rise from his body. Finishing the incantation a portal opens giving passage to the center of the Plane of Fear. With one powerful blast the group channels all their power through each other and lets loose one gigantic blast that could be heard all over Norrath. The blas slams Meldreth through the portal high above the Plane of Fear. The group thinks if the fall doesn't kill him then he is in for a far worse fate when he awakes on the ground.
Returning safely home with their leader Cherrie the celebrations begin immediately. Gifts and hugs were given to all members for this was truly a most special day for the guild. It was the day they truly realized that only through the strength of each other, and not alone, could they overcome any odds. This would be the true reason for the guild being formed; for friends to gather together in a common goal to aid and help each other in times of need. And at this time of year for all to feel welcome and rejoice in the friends they have made over the new year. So my friends this is my gift to you. For all members of the guild to know that any member may call on each other for anything at anytime. So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you in the mightiest guild in all Norrath, the guild of War and Wizardry.
The End.
